Bangladesh speedster Taskin Ahmed has expressed his urge to become a world-class Test bowler for the country.
Taskin, who was adjudged the player of the series in Bangladesh’s historic series win in South Africa, said that he considers the red-ball format to be the toughest and that he is always looking to put out stand out performances in Tests.
“Test cricket is the most challenging. It is indeed the most difficult format. So, performing in Test matches gives me the most satisfaction. I want to become a world-class Test bowler,” he said.
Taskin said that his team is in very good spirits after the ODI series win and will look to inflict defeat on the Proteas in the Test series as well.
“We are very confident and will play for the win. Our intensity and desire are important,” he said.
Taskin, who will lead the fast bowling lineup for Bangladesh, said that he had to improve on the mental side of his bowling to achieve success in different conditions and said that the hard work he has done with the other fast bowlers has started to pay dividends.
“The pitch and conditions will not be in my control. To become a top bowler, I think I need to understand how to bowl on different types of wickets. I must develop the ability to adapt. I have worked on this by improving my skill levels. I’m on my way and the work is now in progress,” he said on improving the mental side of his bowling.
“The fast bowlers have worked hard for the last two years. We are bonding well and working as a unit. We are improving but we want to get better. We have the ability and the coaching staff are backing us,” he added.
Bangladesh will take on South Africa in the first Test at Kingsmead in Durban on March 31.
