Bangladesh Under-19 National Team beat Pakistan U19 by four wickets in the final One-Day in Multan to clinch the three-match series 2-1.

In the rain-affected match, which was curtailed to 42 overs, Pakistan batted first and put 220-9 on board. In reply, Bangladesh, courtesy of the fifties from Ashiq Rahman, Ahrar Amin, and Parvez Rahman ensured a four-wicket win.

Bowling first, Bangladesh got off to a great start as Rohanat Doullah dismissed Muhammad Farooq in the first over. It was Tayyab Arif’s 83 that the Pakistan innings was built around, with help from Arafat Minhas and Uzair Mumtaz, who scored 34 and 43 respectively.

Rohanat and Rafiuzzaman picked up three wickets each, while Parvez picked up a couple. The other wicket went to Iqbal Hossain.

In reply, Ashiq’s fiery innings at the top, where he scored 72 off just 56 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and two sixes, set the tone for Bangladesh.

But a collapse in the middle overs, which saw the Young Tigers reduced to 93-2 to 113-5, provided fears of losing out on the series.

That did not end up happening courtesy of an 85-run stand between Ahrar and Parvez as they took Bangladesh within 23 runs of victory.

While Ahrar was dismissed for 52, hitting six fours, Parvez took the team home with his innings of unbeaten 57, where he hit five fours and a six.
