3 life insurance cos declare dividend

Three listed life insurance companies – Popular, Sandhani and National – have declared dividends for their shareholders for the year ended on December 31 last.

The dividends were declared at the companies' board meeting held on July 27 and 28. Popular life Insurance will provide 40 per cent cash dividend to the shareholders, which is double compared to the previous year.

The company had disbursed 20 per cent cash dividend in 2019.

For the final approval, the insurance company will virtually hold its annual general meeting (AGM) on August 24 over the issue.

Sources said although the company did not perform good last year however announced high dividend for its shareholders.

Meanwhile, the board of directors of National Life Insurance recommended 32 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2020.

It will hold an AGM on September 29 through virtual platform to get the dividend approved. The insurance company had earlier announced 28 per cent cash dividend in 2019.

However, Sandhani Life Insurance, for the second straight year, continued to provide 12 per cent cash dividend to the shareholders. The company’s

AGM will be held virtually on Sep 28.
