Dhaka Bank’s earnings rise 161% in second quarter

The earnings of Dhaka Bank have soared 161 per cent in the second quarter (April-June) of the current year.

Its consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.47 in the quarter, against Tk 0.18 of the same period of the previous year.

Meantime, the company reported a 39 per cent rise in its half yearly earnings for the current year. Its consolidated EPS for January-June period stood at Tk 1.10, against Tk 0.79 of the corresponding period of the previous year.

The disclosure was made through a corporate declaration posted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

The bank attributed the rise in earnings to the good operating income, which increased by 71.83 crore in the second quarter.

Its total operating income stood at Tk 289.81 crore in April-June’21 quarter, against Tk 217.97 crore of the previous year’s same period.

The consolidated net operating cash flow (NOCFPS) was Tk 3.98 for the half year (January-June) of 2021, against negative Tk 5.81 for the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, the consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 20.97 as of June 30, 2021, when it was Tk 19.60 as of June 30, 2020.

Each share of the bank was traded at Tk 14.8 at the Dhaka bourse on Thursday.

Currently, the market capitalisation of Dhaka Bank is Tk 1,424 crore, while the paid-up capital is Tk 949.62 crore and the authorised capital is Tk 1000 crore.

The company carries out share trading under the ‘A’ category at the DSE by providing dividends on a regular basis.

For 2020, the company distributed a total 12 per cent dividend -- 6 per cent cash and 6 per cent stock – to its shareholders.

In the previous year, the dividend disbursed by the bank was 10 per cent -- 5 per cent cash and 5 per cent stock.
