BATBC declares 125% interim cash dividend

British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company Limited (BATBC), a global tobacco company, has declared a 125 per cent interim cash dividend for its shareholders.

The dividend was declared based on reviewing its audited financial statements for the third quarter (Jan-Sep’21) this year, said the company in a filing with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Wednesday.

It said the company’s earnings per share (EPS) increased by 33 per cent to Tk 21.41 in nine months of this year in the same period a year earlier.

It logged Tk 5.46 per share in profits from Tk 5.03 during the period.

Its net asset value (NAV) per share stood at Tk 74.38 as of September 30, 2021.

“The company’s EPS posted higher net profit driven by growth in volume,” it said in the filing.

On Wednesday, the company’s share fell 3.63 per cent to Tk 672.40 on the DSE.

The BATBC paid 600 per cent cash and 200 per cent stock dividends for 2020, and 400 per cent cash dividend for 2019.

Listed in 1977 on the DSE, the company’s paid-up capital is Tk 540 crore to date.
