The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) began mock trading of Treasury bonds (T-bond) aiming at bringing alternative investment options for the investors.
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Commissioner Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed inaugurated the mock trading at an event in Chattogram on Sunday.
Ending a wait of more than a decade, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) began trading of T-bond on October 14.
The CSE followed the DSE’s trading system and started the mock trading before officially launching the T-bond trading.
Speaking at the event, the BSEC commissioner described it as a landmark event for the country’s capital market.
He emphasised training up the stakeholders before the full-fledged launching of government securities trading.
CSE Chairman Asif Ibrahim, among others, attended the event.
