The stock market regulator BSEC has urged the market intermediaries to strictly follow the securities rules to help ensure a fair environment in the market.
“The market intermediaries have an important role in making the market more vibrant and dynamic,” said BSEC Commissioner Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed at an event in Dhaka on Wednesday.
“So it is crucial for the intermediaries to comply with the existing rules and regulations. The brokerage firms should properly maintain their internal compliance and good governance,” he said.
“If the capital market becomes bigger and more investment comes, investors will feel safe. But if investors lose, they will turn away from the capital market,” the commissioner.
The BSEC and Dhaka Stock Exchange jointly organised the event also attended by BSEC Executive Director Md Rezaul Karim, DSE Chief Operating Officer M Saifur Rahman Mazumdar, DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh President Sharif Anwar Hossain.
