Paramount to produce antivirus fabrics

Paramount Textile Ltd has decided to produce antivirus fabrics, the latest addition to the company’s product diversification process taking the pandemic into account.

The new fabrics will be manufactured using the latest technology, said the company in a statement on Sunday.

The fabric will be manufactured using HeiQ Viroblock technology, H1N1 (Human Influenza A), H5N1 (Avian Influenza A), H7N1 (2013 Influenza A Virus), Covid virus (229) and SARS-Cov-2 and including RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus), which play an effective role in the prevention of other viruses and bacteria, it said.

The technology uses a type of silver particle to produce fabric, which creates a kind of high wave spectrum, it said. When viruses and bacteria come in contact with the fabric, it gets trapped in the high-wave spectrum and reacts with the sulphur group stored in the fabric, it noted. In this case, it said, the virus acts as a fatty vesicle or liposome accelerator and immediately destroys the virus membrane.

These antiviral and anti-bacterial fabrics initially used to make masks are now being used to make readymade garments. This technology applies to cotton and linen fabrics produced in Paramount Textiles. This fabric can be used in the production of all kinds of garments including shirts, jackets, and trousers.

The company believes that these antiviral and anti-bacterial fabrics will further enrich the future development of Paramount Textiles during the pandemic. “Leading foreign buyers have shown great interest in producing new technology-rich fabrics,” said the company.

At its recent 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Paramount Textile Managing Director Sakhawat Hossain said that the management of the company has been working tirelessly to increase the share value and protect the interests of the shareholders. The growth trend of the company will be continued by adding more new projects in the future, he said.
