Former BSEC Commissioner Bala dies

Prof Swapan Kumar Bala, former commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and former managing director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), passed away on Wednesday.

He fell sick in the morning and was rushed to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Dhaka but doctors found him dead there.

The securities regulator, the premier bourse and other organisations have mourned his death and prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul. Bala was a professor of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at Dhaka University. He joined the DSE as managing director in 2013. After completing his tenure at the premier bourse, Bala served the BSEC as commissioner for four years.
