Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has declared 12 per cent cash dividend for general shareholders for the year ending on June 30, 2021.

The latest figure is the highest dividend to be disbursed by the listed state-run company since the financial year 2014-15.

The BSC will hold an annual general meeting on January 27 to approve the recommended dividend, according to a news filing with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

The corporation posted 73.67 per cent rise in its earnings in FY21. Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 4.7 in the year, against Tk 2.72 of the previous year.

The good performance was attributed to decrease in shipping operational expenses.

The company’s EPS rose to Tk 4.34 in the first quarter (July-September) of the financial year 2021-22, from Tk 0.58 of the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

It credited the good performance to global shipping fair increase.
