Sharif Anwar elected as DSE shareholder director

Sharif Anwar Hossain, the managing director of Sahidullah Securities, has been elected as the shareholder director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

He bagged 27.6 crore votes while his opponent -- Ahmed Rashid Lali – got 21.66 crore votes, according to the official result of the election.

The country’s prime bourse held the election to the post on Sunday. Out of the total 259 voters, 174 cast their votes in the election. Here, the number of votes is counted as per the number of shares in DSE.

Anwar, a former president of DSE Brokers Association (DBA), replaced Managing Director of Midway Securities Rakibur Rahman who retired from the 13-member DSE Board this year as per a demutualisation scheme.
