The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has approved a 4 per cent dividend for its general shareholders for the year ended on June 30, 2021. The dividend payout was approved at the 60th annual general meeting (AGM) of the country’s premier bourse in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The AGM also officially approved newly elected Sharif Anwar Hossain as a shareholder director of DSE.
Speaking at the event, DSE Chairman Md Eunusur Rahman said Bangladesh’s capital market is small compared to its peers and it suffered a sharp fall amid the Covid-19 pandemic. However, various steps taken by the securities regulator and other stakeholders helped the market rebound, he said. The DSE has been working to build an ultramodern data center and disaster recovery site, which will help facilitate up to 1.5 million transactions seamlessly, he added.
