Dhaka stocks returned to the green territory, following a one-day break, as investors’ buying spree in sector-specific issues ahead of the forthcoming earning declarations helped indices to close higher, said the EBL Securities in a note.

Moreover, all the major macro indicators indicated that the country is well placed to overcome the potential challenges from the deteriorating pandemic situation, which bolstered investors’ confidence on the trading floor.

Besides, investors' participation advanced a bit while total turnover increased by 1.5 per cent and stood at Tk 1,450 crore over the previous session.

Financial institutions made up 11.5 per cent of the turnover, followed by pharma 9.6 per cent and miscellaneous 9.5 per cent.

The majority of the sectors displayed satisfactory performance. Among them, the travel sector rallied 4 per cent, financial institutions 2.9 per cent, and paper 1.9 per cent.

On the flip side, food was down 0.9 per cent, followed by engineering 0.8 per cent, and life insurance 0.6 per cent.

Out of the 385 issues traded, 176 advanced, 149 declined, and 60 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled in green terrain. The selected indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) have advanced by 23 points and 39 points respectively.
