Three banks declare dividends for 2021

Three private banks -- Uttara Bank, BRAC Bank, and Mercantile Bank -- have declared dividends for their shareholders for the year ended on December 31, 2021.

The dividend payout was decided at board meetings of the listed banks on Tuesday.

Uttara Bank

Uttara Bank will pay 14 per cent cash and 14 per cent stock dividend to its shareholders for the year. It disbursed 12.5 per cent dividend in the previous year.

The bank reported a 3.43 per cent rise in earnings as its EPS (earnings per share) stood at Tk 3.93 in 2021, against Tk 3.80 of 2020.

It will hold an annual general meeting (AGM) on April 28 virtually while the record date was set as April 06.

At the Dhaka bourse, its share price rose 1 per cent and to Tk 28.80 on Wednesday.

BRAC Bank

The bank announced a 15 per cent dividend -- 7.5 per cent cash and 7.5 per cent stock -- for its shareholders for 2021.

It will hold AGM on April 28 while the record date was fixed as April 6.

It reported an EPS of Tk 3.93 for 2021, against Tk 3.17 in the previous year.

In 2020, BRAC Bank distributed 10 per cent cash and 5 per cent stock dividend. Its share price increased 1.3 per cent to Tk 49.70 at the Dhaka bourse on Wednesday.

Mercantile Bank

The publicly traded bank has recommended 12.5 per cent cash and 5 per cent stock dividend for its shareholders for the year ended on December 31. Its AGM is slated for April 28 while the record date has been set as April 06.

Mercantile Bank’s EPS rose 60 per cent to Tk 3.46 in 2021, from Tk 2.16 recorded in 2020.

At the Dhaka bourse, its share price rose 0.20 per cent to Tk 17.80 on Wednesday.
