Unique Hotel reports record high Q3 profits

Unique Hotel & Resorts Limited—a leading hospitality management company owned by The Westin Dhaka— reported record high profits in the third quarter of the current fiscal year.

Its net profit stood at Tk 82.99 crore from January through March (Q3) of fiscal 2021-22 against a loss of Tk 5.1 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, said the company in a filing with the Dhaka Stock Exchange
on Tuesday.

The hotel's consolidated earnings per share (EPS) clocked at Tk 2.83 as against a negative Tk 0.14 during the period. Its consolidated EPS was Tk 3.06 in Q3 FY22, up from a negative Tk 0.26 in Q3 FY21.

Its consolidated net operating cash flow per share was Tk 1.89 for Jul’21-Mar’22 as against Tk 0.16 for Jul’20-Mar’21. Consolidated a net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 96.57 as of March 31, 2022, and Tk 88.03 as of June 30, 2021.

“There was an extraordinary gain of Tk 83.60 crore arising out of the sale of 10,981 ordinary shares of the subsidiary company, 'Unique Meghnaghat Power Limited' during this period, which also contributed to the EPS in addition to the operating profit,” said the company in the third-quarter report.

The Unique Hotel has a paid-up capital of Tk 294 crore and holds a surplus reserve of Tk 1,678 crore.

In the nine months (Jul’21-Mar’22) of the current fiscal year, the Unique Hotel’s net profit stood at Tk 88.54 crore, up from Tk 9.63 crore lost in the same period of the previous year.

The total revenue was over Tk 103.49 crore in July-March of FY22, which was Tk 50.39 crore in the same period a year earlier.

On Tuesday, its share price rose 3.1 per cent to Tk 63.10 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.
