Dhaka Insurance Q1 earnings up 7%

Dhaka Insurance has reported a 7 per cent rise in its earnings for the first quarter (January-March) of the year 2022.

Its consolidated earnings per share (EPS) rose to Tk 0.75 in the January-March, 2022 period from Tk 0.70 recorded in the same period a year ago, the company said in a filing with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday.

Its consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 0.54 from January-March 2022. It was positive Tk 0.14 in the same period of the previous year.

During the first quarter, NOCFPS has been increased due to enhancement of premium income and commission earned on re-insurance ceded premium compared to the corresponding period, it said.

The consolidated net asset value (NAV) of the company per share (with revaluation) was Tk 34.48 as of March 31, 2022 and Tk 33.78 as of December 31, 2021,

NAV per share (without revaluation) was Tk 23.85 as on March 31, 2022 and Tk 23.14 as on December 31, 2021.

Dhaka Insurance Limited’s share price rose 0.68 per cent to Tk 59.40 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Thursday.

Listed in 2010, the company has Tk 236 crore in market capitalisation, Tk 40 crore in paid-up capital, and Tk 84 crore in surplus reserves.

Dhaka Insurance Limited last recommended a 20 per cent stock dividend for its shareholders for the period ended on December 31, 2020.
