Shibli Rubayat elected as IOSCO vice chairman

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) chairman Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam has been elected Vice Chairman of International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

He defeated Chinese contender Shen Bing through electronic voting held from 14 to 18th July conducted by IOSCO, headquartered in Madrid, Spain.

Shibli Rubayat, who is the first individual from Bangladesh to be elected IOSCO Vice Chairman, will remain in the post till 2024.

This is definitely a prestigious achievement for Banglaesh, securities exchange analysts say. Shen Bing is Director-General of the Department of International Affairs at the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC).

IOSCO is the leading international policy forum for securities regulators and is recognized as the global standard setter for securities regulation. The organization’s membership regulates more than 95 per cent of the world’s securities markets in more than 115 jurisdictions and it continues to expand.
