Ratanpur Steel share soars despite production halt

Share price of Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited rose significantly ignoring its production halt.

Its share price jumped 37 per cent from Tk 17 on August 22 to Tk 23.4 on August 29 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

However on Tuesday, its share price dropped 2.56 per cent to stand at Tk 22.80 following the query made by the DSE.

“There is no undisclosed price sensitive information of the company for recent unusual price hike and increase in volume of shares,” said Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills in response to the DSE’s query over its unusual price hike.

On March 23, an enquiry team formed by the BSEC visited the factory premises of Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills and found that the factory remained inoperative.

In FY20, the company’s earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 1.05, net asset value (NAV) before consideration of dividend at Tk 49.69 for the year ended on June 30, 2020 as against Tk 5.58 and Tk 49.48 respectively for the same period of the previous year.
