Two sponsor directors of Standard Bank Limited and Mercantile Bank Limited separately announced to put on sale parts of their holdings, said two separate filings published on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website.
According to a DSE filing, Haji Md Shamsul Alam, a sponsor director of Standard Bank, expressed his intention to offload 57.40 lakh units of share out of his holding of 2.69 crore units in the company.
A few days ago, Mohammad Nurul Islam, another sponsor of the bank, disposed 20 lakh units of share out of his holding of 2.07 crore.
On the other hand, AKM Shaheed Reza, a sponsor director of Mercantile Bank expressed his willing to get rid of 14.46 lakh units of share out of his holding of 4.77 crore units at the prevailing market price on the public market.
Before this, he had also offloaded 69 lakh units of share in the last two years.
Both sponsors from the two banks will trade their shares in the next 30 office days. After these announcements, each share of the Standard Bank and Mercantile Bank was traded at Tk8.80 and Tk14.50 respectively.
