The Securities regulator Bangladesh Security and Exchange Commission (BSEC) sued an individual named Md Abu Ramim over his alleged spread of rumours about the country’s capital market.
The commission’s Assistant Director Md Masum Billah filed the lawsuit as the accused individual spread rumours defaming the country’s capital market on a social media platform, according to a media statement.
The case was filed with the Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka on November 20.
According to the case details, Abu Ramim had shared false and unsubstantiated information on his facebook page (https:Iwww.facebook.com/bdstocksdiscussion) to deceive stock investors on November 20. The accused spread false information on social media to influence the stock market and gain unlawful advantages to serve their own ill-intentions, the statement said.
