Asif Ibrahim re-elected as CSE chairman

The Board of Directors of the Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE) re-elected Asif Ibrahim as the chairman of the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).

All the independent directors and shareholder directors of the stock exchange unanimously elected him for the next three years at a board meeting held Sunday, said a media statement.

Earlier, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved the appointments of seven independent directors of the bourse.

As per the BSEC approval, Asif Ibrahim will continue as an independent director for another period of three years, while Abdul Halim Chowdhury, Kaashif Reza Choudhury, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Sajib Hossain, CFA, Istar Mahal and Mohammad Naquib Uddin Khan were also nominated as independent director of the bourse.

Moreover, the other elected four shareholder directors are Siddikur Rahman, Mohammed Mohiuddin, FCMA, Rezaul Islam and Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury.

Asif Ibrahim was born in Dhaka in 1965. He received his formal education from the University of Delhi (India) and the University of North Texas (USA). Ibrahim is the Vice Chairman of Newage Group of Industries, a business house involved mainly in manufacturing and exporting ready-made garments, textiles and plastic products.
