Commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed said Bangladesh has turned into a development miracle from a bottomless basket.
The country in the last 50 years made excellent progress in all socio-economic arenas, while its financial sector also witnessed progress during this time, he said.
The BSEC commissioner made these remarks while presenting the keynote paper styled ‘Investing in the Bangladesh capital market’ at the Investment Education Conference 2023 held in the district of Bogura on Saturday.
The BSEC and the Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM) jointly organised the conference.
Shamsuddin Ahmed detailed about the opening of beneficiary owners (BO) account and Nita account online for expatriates and global investors.
Joining the event through a virtual platform, BSEC Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam said the securities watchdog remained alert to protect the interests of the investors. He also underscored the inclusion of women in the financial activities and called for women to invest in stocks for gaining profits.
BSEC Executive Director M Saifur Rahman, DSE Director Shakil Rizvi, Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association President Sayedur Rahman, BASM Director General Toufic Ahmad Choudhury, among others, attended the programme.
