Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) held a memorial meeting and dua mahfil on Thursday, in memory of the Former Chairman, Nur E Alam Siddique who passed away on March 29 and former Vice Chairman and Director of DSE, Khwaja Ghulam Rasul who passed away on March 11.
The Chairman of DSE, Hafiz Md Hasan Babu, expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families and said; Noor-e Alam Siddiqui is one of the people who played a pivotal role in the architecture of Bangladesh that we are standing in today. He is one of the four caliphs of Bangabandhu.”
“Nur E Alam Siddique and Khwaja Ghulam Rasul were two leaders of the capital market. Their honesty, hard work, affection and virtues should be imbibed by us. We have to work and lead DSE for the economic development of the country”, he added.
Managing Director of DSE, Shaifur Rahman Mazumdar said, that two eminent personalities of DSE passed away. They will be remembered by the capital market for their contributions, according to a press release.
Richard Rozario, president, DSE brokers association said, “they have created a trend in the capital market, our job is to carry that trend forward. They have worked hard to increase foreign investment for the development of the capital market.
Managing Director of Bulbul Securities Ltd, Shahedul Haque Bulbul said, the nation will remember the sacrifices of Nur E Alam Siddique as a freedom fighter and his hard work for the country’s economic development after independence. After becoming a member of DSE in the 80s, the contributions of Khwaja Ghulam Rasul towards the development of the capital market are undeniable.
Ghulam Rasul’s daughter Samia Qaiser thanked DSE for organising this dua mahfil and requested the attendees to pray for her father.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of DSE Prof Abdullah Al Mahmud, Afzal Hossain, Rubaba Daula and Sharif Anwar Hossain.
