The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) of Greece on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on mutual collaboration, information sharing, and cooperation.

The agreement was signed at the annual meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) which is currently underway in Bangkok of Thailand.

The agreement had previously been agreed upon during a visit by the BSEC chairman to Greece in October 2022, and it also received approval from both governments, said a BSEC media statement.

The deal aims to facilitate mutual assistance, information exchange, and cooperation between the two regulatory bodies regarding securities market supervision.

After the signing, a bilateral discussion took place, focusing on various aspects of the capital markets, where BSEC Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam highlighted Bangladesh’s economic progress, its potential for investment, and discussed opportunities for Greek investors in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) also held a meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, who is also the vice chair of IOSCO-APRC.

Representatives from capital market regulators of various countries in the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia, India, and others, were present at the meeting.

Top officials from these organisations discussed important matters related to their respective markets.
