Two non-life insurers declare dividends for 2022

Two non-life insurers – newly listed Islami Commercial Insurance, and Prime Insurance – declared a 10 per cent cash dividend each for the year ending in December 2022.

The board of directors of Islami Commercial Insurance announced to hold an annual general meeting (AGM) on August 23, while the record date is set for July 23 for the dividend splits.

Due to an increase in the number of shares, the newly listed general insurer’s earnings per share (EPS) fell 43 per cent to Tk 1.03 for 2022 from Tk 1.82 for the previous year.

The company went public in December, 2022 of last year after raising Tk 20.26 crore from investors using the fixed price method.

Moreover, its EPS also dropped to Tk 0.26 for the January–March quarter of 2022 from Tk 0.34 for the same quarter a year earlier. On the other hand, Prime Insurance’s board declared to hold an AGM on September 20. Its record date has been fixed fir July 30.

The company reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 2.38 for the year ending in December 2022, compared to Tk 2.01 for the previous year.
