The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has fined 17 investors of Beximco Ltd a record Tk 428.52 crore for manipulating the company's share prices.
The commission on Tuesday fined the investors in its 924th meeting, said a press release, reports BSS.
This is the first time a company's investors have been fined such a high amount in the capital market's history.
Of the investors, Mosfequr Rahman has been fined the highest Tk 100 crore, Crescent Ltd has been fined Tk 70 crore, Momatazur Rahman has been fined Tk 40 crore, and Abdur Rouf has been fined Tk 30 crore.
