CFA Society elects new office bearers

The CFA Society Bangladesh has announced the election of its new office bearers for the upcoming two-year term, commencing on July 1. Asif Khan, chairman of EDGE AMC Limited, has been appointed as the society's president, succeeding Shaheen Iqbal, DMD and head of Treasury and Financial Institutions at BRAC Bank PLC.

Asif Khan is a founding member of the society and has previously held the position of treasurer, demonstrating his longstanding commitment and service to the organization, according to a press release.

Md Iqbal Hossain, CFA, CFO and head of Treasury at Sonali Bank PLC was elected as the vice-president. Kazi Monirul Islam, CFA, CEO at Shanta Asset Management became the society’s secretary, and Kazi Raquib-Ul Huq, CFA, head of Capital Market and Wealth Management at BRAC Bank PLC assumed the role of treasurer of the society.

Other directors include Md Moniruzzaman, CFA, CEO at Prime Bank Securities Limited, Mahtab Osmani, CFA, executive director of Corporate Banking at Standard Chartered Bank, and S M Galibur Rahman, CFA, head of Research & Strategic Planning at Shanta Securities Ltd.

CFA Institute is the global association of investment professionals that sets the standard for professional excellence and credentials. The organisation is a champion for ethical behaviour in global markets and a respected source of knowledge in the global financial community. The end goal is to create an environment where investors’ interests come first, markets function at their best, and economies grow, adds the release.

The institute has more than 1,70,000 CFA charterholders, and about 160 member societies.

CFA Society Bangladesh is the local chapter of the global CFA Institute. The society has 131 regular and 84 associate members working in the leading financial institutions of Bangladesh. The CFA qualification is considered a gold standard for investment professionals across the globe, reads the release.

The major activities of CFA Society Bangladesh include fostering education in finance and investment, promoting ethics and professionalism among society members, policy advocacy with regulators, and providing continuous education opportunities for society members.
