Country's both the bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)- on Wednesday plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
But, turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Tk 6.03 billion which was Tk 5.97 billion at the previous session of the week.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 54.64 points or 0.97 per cent to 5578.97. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 6.16 points to close at 1229.60. But the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, increased 4.25 points to finish at 1984.68.
Out of 394 issues traded, 274 declined, 79 advanced and 41 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor, reports BSS.
ADNTEL was the day's top gainer, posting 9.91 per cent gain while KPPL was the worst loser, losing 9.77 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 173.93 points to settle at 15980.19 and the Selective Categories Index-CSCX- shedding 97.27 points to close at 9622.20.
Of the issues traded, 166 declined, 41 advanced and 20 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
