The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Tuesday awarded nine institutions working in the capital market with ‘Independence Golden Jubilee Award’ based on their performance in the last year.
The winners were selected from three categories – brokerage firms, merchant banks, and asset management companies – with three awards from each category.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan as the chief guest handed over the awards to officials of the award winning companies during a ceremony held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka.
Financial Institutions Division Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah attended the event as special guest, with BSEC Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam in the chair.
EBL Securities Limited was the first position winner in the best brokerage house category, while Shahjalal Islami Bank Securities and Islami Bank Securities jointly secured the second position in this category. On the other hand, Sheltech Brokerage, and Eminent Securities jointly secured the third position in this category.
In the best merchant bank category, the first and second positions winners were Green Delta Capital, and AAA Finance and Investment, respectively.
No third position winner in this category was announced during the event.
Besides, Capitec Asset Management Limited secured the first position in the best asset manager category, while LankaBangla Asset Management was the second position winner in this category.
Like the merchant bank category, no third position winner was chosen in this category as well.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has been awarding the ‘Independence Golden Jubilee Award’ to brokerage houses, merchant banks, and asset management companies since 2022 based on the companies’ annual performance.
It is here mentionable that one official and two employees of the BSEC – Executive Director Dr ATM Tariquzzaman, Personal Officer Biplop Kumar and Office Assistant Shabuj Mia – were given the chastity award at the event.
