Robi shares to be 'A' category on Dhaka bourse

Robi Axiata, the country's second-largest telecom operator, will be placed in the “A” category from the existing “B” category at the country’s prime bourse, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), starting from Wednesday.

As per Tuesday’s disclosure, the multinational company has reported the disbursement of a 10 per cent cash dividend for the year that ended on December 31, 2023, which is the highest in Robi’s history after incorporation and represents 165.6 per cent of the profit after tax for 2023.

Including Tk 2,511.2 crore in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2023, Robi’s total revenue for 2023 reached Tk 9,942 crore.

Besides, including Tk 148.6 crore profit after tax in Q4 of 2023, Robi closed 2023 with Tk 321 crore in net profit, according to its financial statements.

Compared to 2022, Robi’s earnings increased by 15.8 per cent in 2023. Compared to Q4 of 2022, the company’s revenue went up by 11.4 per cent in the same quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, voice revenue increased by 9 per cent in 2023.

On the other hand, revenue from data services increased by 28.2 per cent compared to 2022. Compared to Q4 of 2022, data revenue went up by 31 per cent in Q4 of 2023.

Including the capex investment of Tk 550 crore in Q4 of 2023, the total capex investment of Robi reached Tk 1,903 crore at the end of 2023.

The company’s earnings per share (EPS) were Tk 0.28 in Q4 of 2023 and Tk 0.61 for the whole of 2023.

The company had paid a 7 per cent cash dividend for 2022.

Robi, which was listed on stock exchanges in 2020, saw its share price increase by 0.47 per cent to Tk 21.30 each at the Dhaka bourse on Tuesday.
