Both the Country's bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), on Wednesday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 60.88 points or 1.16 per cent to settle at 5,302.72. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 25.89 points to finish at 1,903.84 and 16.28 points closing at 1,165.83, reports BSS.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Tk 6,051.23 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 5,245.66 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 404 issues traded, 251 closed green, 89 in the red and 64 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
UNILEVERCL topped the turnover chart, followed by CAPITECGBF, AIL, SEAPEARL and PRAGATILIF.
HEIDELBCEM was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while LINDEBD was the worst loser, losing 2.99 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All-Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 87.76 points to settle at 14924.93 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 56.09 points to close at 8,985.33.
Of the issues traded, 115 advanced, 86 declined and 39 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 26.19 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 14.53 crore.
