Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 29.18 points or 0.55 per cent to settle at 5,373.12. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 14.44 points to finish at 2,036.63 and 2.63 points closing at 1,221.08.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 6346.813 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 3825.489 million.
Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 360 issues traded, 192 closed green, 55 in the red and 113 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Beximco Pharma, Robi, Lanka Bangla Finance and Square Pharma.
BGIC was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 50 per cent while Dutch Bangla was the worst loser, losing 12.97 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 87.76 points to settle at 15,566.26 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 51.33 points to close at 9,390.26.
Of the issues traded, 124 advanced, 51 declined and 62 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city’s bourse traded 3.05 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 40.61 million.
