Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the four sessions, stocks on Thursday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 92.96 points or 1.66 per cent to settle at 5,699.92. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rising 42.96 points to finish at 2,090.57 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 17.66 points to close at 1,219.08.

Out of 394 issues traded, 151 advanced, 210 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor, reports BSS.

Daily trade turnover increased to Tk 7,785.56 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Tk 5,368.38 million in the previous session of the week.

GP dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by BRAC Bank, OLYMPIC, JHRML and ROBI.

SIBL was the day's top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while PROVATIINS was the worst loser, shedding 3 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 175.53 points to settle at 16,378.04 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 110.69 points to close at 9,865.17.

Of the issues traded, 113 declined, 70 advanced and 12 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 53.98 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 13.22 crore.
