Stocks on Tuesday witnessed an upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 13.09 points or 0.21 per cent to settle at 6,272.73.
Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 0.72 points to finish at 2,138 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 3.09 points to close at 1,365.65.
At DSE, out of the day's 395 securities, prices of 183 securities closed higher against 153 losing issues.
The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 8,982.05 million which was Tk 8,049.88 million at the previous session of the week.
The major gaining issues were 1STPRIMFMF, NRBBANK, RUPALILIFE, AFTABAUTO and BBS CABLES while the major losing companies were KPPL, INTECH, PEOPLESING, SBACBANK and MEGHNAPET.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 5.70 points up at 17,937.81.
At the CSE, 256 issues were traded. Of those, 108 closed higher and 120 closed lower when 89.33 lakh shares worth Tk 20.84 crore changed hands.
