Technical glitch disrupts DSE again

The server of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country's main capital market, was once again hit by a technical error on Sunday. Due to this, 64 stock brokerages have not yet settled their shares traded on the day.

Although the shares of daily transactions are settled between 3pm and 3:30pm every day, the DSE could not settle the transactions of the brokerages till 9pm on Sunday.

The DSE IT department said in the afternoon that report generation for DSE FlexTP (4 silos) was in trouble, and the APP team and FlexTP resolved it. The report will be generated and sent to the brokerages soon. FlexTrade informed that it would take 20 more minutes to end the data processing.

At 9pm, a top stock broker said the “20 minutes” started at 4pm. “When will 20 minutes end?”

BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage issued a notice to its clients, saying, “We are sorry to inform you that, due to a DSE technical problem, we had delayed processing trade data. So you may not get your portfolio in regular schedule time.”

In this regard, DSE acting managing director Saifur Rahman Majumdar said some brokers have had problems with their transaction satellites. “Work is in progress, and we hope it will be resolved soon.”

Affected brokerages said if the problem is not resolved by Monday morning, they will not be able to participate in the DSE trading.
