Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, currently serving as senior secretary and chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), has been granted another two-year contract extension.

The government issued a notification to this regard on Wednesday.

Initially, Muneem was appointed on January 6, 2020 and his original two-year term was set to conclude on January 5, 2022.

Later, the government extended his term with a two-year contract. The term was set to end on January 5 of this year.

Muneem, a Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) veteran since January 21, 1986, and a geology graduate from the University of Dhaka, previously served as senior secretary to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.

This extension marks his continuation as the third individual with a contractual appointment to lead the NBR.

Born in Sirajganj, he served as the chairman of the state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation and held diverse roles in various ministries before that.
