The National Board of Revenue (NBR) collections grew year-on-year by 15.09 per cent in the first seven months (July-January) of FY24, and achieved 51 per cent of the fiscal year's revised target.

The revenue board collected around Tk 1.98 lakh crore during the period, against a Tk 2.15 lakh crore target.

As a result, despite a revenue growth of 15.09 per cent, the revenue deficit compared to the revised target is Tk 17,751 crore. If the initial target set in the budget is calculated, the deficit will be more, insiders say.

In the budget of the current fiscal year, the NBR has been given a target of Tk 4.30 lakh crore. However, recently this target was revised to Tk 4.10 lakh crore.
