A 10-year tax exemption scheme has been proposed in the national budget for the local producers of three and four wheelers.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal made the proposal as he placed a Tk 6,03,681 crore budget for 2021-22 fiscal year in parliament on Thursday.

“The government is pledge-bound to nurture the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand to accelerate the establishment of mega industries and production of import-substitute industrial goods in the country,” he said.

He proposed to provide tax exemption, subject to certain conditions, to the companies engaged in the production of three and four-wheelers in Bangladesh for 10 years which may further be extended to a decade on the fulfilment of certain other conditions.

The finance minister said he would also like to propose tax exemption, subject to certain conditions, to the companies engaged in the production of certain home and kitchen appliances as well as light engineering products for 10 years.
