Bangladesh to host 45th ICPC World Finals

The 45th "International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals 2022" will be held in Bangladesh.

ICPC Foundation President Dr Bill Poucher made the announcement at an event at the Bangladesh Computer Council auditorium in Dhaka on Tuesday.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak was present at the event as the chief guest.

“The world needs to be conquered with talent,” said the state minister, adding that there is no alternative to talent in dealing with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Palak urged the young generations to build themselves as problem solvers instead of problems makers.

Emphasising coding and programming education he said alongside general education students should focus on this technology education from an early age.

"We have taken up several projects including the establishment of 300 ‘Schools of Future’, Sheikh Russell Digital Lab to build a knowledge-based, innovative and modern Bangladesh,” he added.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is organised every year for the young generation, especially for university-level students.

ICPC is one of the most prestigious and reputable international competitions for solving computer programming problems and Baylor University in Texas, USA is its main initiator.

Senior Secretary of ICT Division NM Zeaul Alam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Md Abdul Mannan, Vice-Chancellor of UAP Prof Qumrul Ahsan, and Deputy Executive Director of the ICPC Dr Jeff Donahue were also present at the event.
