The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), in collaboration with Sesame Workshop Bangladesh, has launched a manual for parents on internet safety for children on 17th February 2023.
This initiative is part of the “Safe Internet and Early Childhood Development” project funded by Internet Society Foundation, implemented by Sesame Workshop Bangladesh.
The goal of this project is to promote a safe internet environment for young children by increasing access to and awareness of safe online internet spaces. The manual contains expert inputs from BTRC, child psychologists and internet safety specialists, read a press release.
This parental manual was launched in the Sisimpur Kids’ Corner at the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela by BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder, BTRC Director General (Systems and Services Department) Brigadier General Md Nasim Parvez, Managing Director of Sesame Workshop Bangladesh Mohammad Shah Alam, Director (Programs and Business Development) Abu Saif Ansari, and Content and Creative Services Director Nasrin Akter.
The manual will be distributed to the parents of the young children studying at various schools of Bangladesh, and will also be made available on the Sisimpur app and relevant BTRC digital platforms, to reach a large numbr of parents and caregivers.
