Ami Probashi, the government-approved digital platform, is working to deliver government services to people’s doorsteps by streamlining all the complexities of the current migration system.
The app and web portal are saving time and money for all the stakeholders involved in the migration process by creating a hassle-free experience to a large extent.
Users of this app can easily complete the necessary government paperwork required to go abroad on their own without the help of a middleman. Likewise, recruiting agencies, Technical Training Centers (TTC) and concerned government departments can easily perform their tasks digitally using the ‘Ami Probashi’ web portal.
As per the instructions from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE), Ami Probashi was launched as the digital solution provider of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) on May 8, 2021 to guide and facilitate Bangladeshi citizens who want to pursue a career abroad.
Migrant workers face negligence, harassment by third parties though they contribute much to the country’s economy. The existing complicated migration system is one of the reasons for their plight. Besides, the country did not have any system to communicate with migrant workers once they were abroad. All of these resulted in rampant exploitations, rising migration costs, and their hardship.
Ami Probashi was developed to deal with these problems in the country’s migration process. This is the first app of its kind in the world. The app has played a key role in creating a digital channel for important government-mandated services such as BMET database registration, Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) session booking, BMET Clearance (Group, Individual and One-stop) as well as directly connecting aspiring migrant workers with legitimate recruiting agencies, bypassing middlemen.
In addition to making it easy for the users to complete the government processes by bringing all the parties involved in the migration process together, Ami Probashi has come up with features like job search, applying to training centres, chat support etc.
Users can complete mandatory government processes from the comfort of their homes, avoid middlemen, save costs, and gain autonomy within the migration process. Foreign employers and recruiting agencies can leverage the Ami Probashi Recruitment Management System (A-RMS) to swiftly fulfil recruitment needs from Bangladesh.
Ami Probashi has also played a key role in the Covid-19 vaccine rollout for migrant workers, without any additional cost to the government. The digital platform continues to work to become a ‘one-stop solution’ to make the entire migration process more cost-effective, transparent and reliable benefiting the migrant workers.
