Chinese multinational technology corporation Huawei Technologies Co Ltd has expressed its commitment to support the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), an algorithmic programming contest for college students worldwide.
In her speech at the event of the 45th ICPC World Finals in Dhaka on Thursday, Vice-President of Corporate Communications at Huawei Vicky Zhang said, “Huawei will continue providing firm and unswerving support to ICPC and open up our research platforms worldwide, in the hope to give all young talent the access to the most challenging problems from ICT industry.”
ICPC, as proven by its success over previous decades, is a wonderful and practical platform that offers opportunities and resources to students who are driven and dedicated to improving their programming skills, according to a press release.
Vicky Zhang said, “I’d like to extend my most sincere gratitude to the ICPC Foundation, host university UAP, Bangladesh ICT Division, and many other contributors. Together, we truly support the most competitive digital talent from over 100 countries as these bright minds are challenging some most cutting-edge problems from real world.
“Here in Bangladesh, I believe all contestants are trying to perform their best. Before today’s final contest, students also have showed great interest in the topic ‘Road to Intelligence’ of Huawei Presentation, a tech talk which was followed by ICPC Challenge powered by Huawei.”
A total of 126 teams and 39 coaches successfully submitted their solutions for the challenge while Zhang congratulated the winners of 12 teams and 12 coaches, who showed the spirit of pursuing better and trying to break through the limits.
With better information perception, information interconnection, and intelligent computing capabilities, life in the future will be healthier and happier, free and convenient. There will be ubiquitous autonomous driving, autonomous flying, home robots, factory robots, farm robots and hospital robots, she said.
“These good lives deeply depend on the speed of scientific and technological progress, and in essence, on the intelligence and creativity of talent. Like the advocacy from Huawei’s Seeds for the Future, it’s our mission to make sure young talent have access to the necessary skillsets and mindsets to commence in a fast-changing world.”
She said, “We want to provide our talented young people with the best STEM opportunities possible, and help them succeed their dreams and contribute to the world.
“Therefore, Huawei’s support for ICPC continues in its commitment to open research platforms which are oriented to the future of information terminals, computing, and connectivity. Huawei will delicate to create opportunity for the next generation of problem solvers, as they explore challenging subject areas that advance science and technology, and propel industry to meet the needs of tomorrow.”
Zhang added, “Apart from supporting the World Finals, we persist in hosting training events, sponsoring international tech contests, and providing professional coaching along with other resources to the international contest community.”
