As many as 85.52 lakh mobile SIM subscribers of different telecom operators left Dhaka in four days — from April 18 to April 21 — to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families and relatives at their ancestral homes.
Of them, home-goers with nearly 32 lakh SIMs left the capital on Friday, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
However, people with 23.91 lakh SIMs entered Dhaka during the same period, he said.
The exact number of people cannot be determined by the number of SIMs left or entered Dhaka as an individual may have more than one SIM.
