Telecom operators launch long-term internet data packs

Telecom operators on Thursday unveiled long-term internet data packs as well as unlimited monthly plans for their subscribers.

Post and Telecommunication Minister Mostafa Jabbar, who has been advocating for unlimited internet services, inaugurated the data packages at an event held at BTRC auditorium in the capital.

With the launching, mobile internet users will enjoy "volume-based data package valid up to one year" and “unlimited data volumes packages for a month”.

BTRC Director General Md Nasim Parvez presented the keynote at the program while Post and Telecommunication MinistrySecretary Md Khalilur Rahman, BTRC Vice-Charman Subrata Ray Maitra, BTRC commissioners, DGs attended the launching program.

BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder has presided over the event.

Grameen phone internet users will be able to 15GB internet pack for Tk1,099 and 5GB for Tk449 while Robi users will get 10GB for Tk309, Banglalink users will avail 5GB for Tk306 initially.

The state-owned operator Teletalk which has launched the two packages on March 17, has been giving 26GB for Tk309 and 6GB for Tk127.

However, carry-forward issues will not apply in the packages.
