Viber expands participant limit for group video calls

Messaging app Viber has announced to expand its group video call feature’s participant capacity to up to 30 people to facilitate communication among local community members.

In a recent poll done by Viber, 40 per cent of over 550 participants said they used group calls to catch up with friends, whereas 20 per cent use the feature to connect with family members.

Meanwhile, 15 per cent of participants mentioned using video calls for work.

Anna Znamenskaya, chief growth officer of Rakuten Viber, hopes that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the expansion of group video call participant limit to 30 persons will prove advantageous for conducting meetings, online training, workshops, virtual events, as well as family gatherings.

“Viber is the most popular messaging app in Bangladesh, and we are constantly working on different upgrades to enhance the convenience in our users' lives,” she added.
