BGMEA, SK ecoplant keen to collaborate on promoting green technology

The BGMEA and the SK ecoplant, a leading environmental service provider in South Korea, have expressed willingness to work together on promoting green technologies in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector.

Both sides showed interest when a delegation of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) visited the SK ecoplant on Friday, a press release said.

The delegation, led by BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, paid a visit to the company with a view to getting an experience of its innovative eco-friendly technologies that help to preserve the environment through energy efficiency and reduction of harmful waste in the industrial sector.

Faruque invited the SK ecoplant team to visit Dhaka and organise a joint workshop to make Bangladeshi garment factories aware of innovative technologies, especially incineration boilers, waste heat recovery and sludge management.

Jong Hun OH, head of Waste Research Lab, Jaeho Ho, head of Water Research Lab, Sung Yeol Choi, team leader (SKIL, SK Innovation Lab), and Ted Kim, manager of Eco Lab, accompanied the BGMEA team during the visit and apprised them of the innovating technologies and solutions provided by the SK ecoplant.

Faruque said the RMG industry of Bangladesh is increasingly focusing on enhancing productivity and efficiency while attaching utmost importance to environmental sustainability to make the industry competitive and sustainable in the long run, read the release.

He also invited the SK ecoplant team to the Made in Bangladesh Week which will be organised by the BGMEA on November 12-18 in Dhaka to promote Bangladesh and the RMG industry by showcasing its strengths and encouraging stories globally.

The delegation included BGMEA Vice-President Md Shahidullah Azim and Director Asif Ashraf, DBL Group Managing Director MA Jabbar, Hams Group Managing Director Md Shafiqur Rahman, and Giant Group Director Ashaab Adeeb Hassan.
