Bangladesh on Wednesday decided to buy Covid-19 vaccine from China National Pharmaceutical Group, known as Sinopharm.
The approval came from a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs held on Wednesday.
Shahida Akhtar, additional secretary of the Cabinet Division, confirmed the decision to The Business Post over phone.
“In meeting, we have decided in principle to buy Covid-19 vaccine from Sinopharm,” Shahida Akhtar told The Business Post.
But the number of vaccines to be purchased will be decided in the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement.
Earlier, Bangladesh received five lakh doses of China's Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine from Chinese government as a gift.
