Bangladesh posts record $52.08b in export earnings

Bangladesh has achieved a milestone by crossing the $50 billion mark in export earnings in the FY2021-22, thanks to the country’s excellent export growth especially in the ready-made garment sector.

The country’s overall export earnings during the period increased by 34.38 per cent to $52.08 billion, up from $38.75 billion in the previous fiscal year (FY21), according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB)’s provisional data released on Sunday.

The RMG sector, the largest contributor to the national exports, earned $42.61 billion in FY22, up by 35.47 per cent, which was $31.45 billion in FY21.

The export earnings in June posted a 37.19 per cent growth to a record of around $4.91 billion against $3.58 billion in the same period a year ago.

Apart from the country’s jute sector, all major sectors performed satisfactory during the July-June period of FY22, exceeding their strategic export target for the fiscal.
