The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association and the commerce ministry have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish Centre for Innovation, Efficiency and OSH to enhance competitiveness of Bangladesh’s RMG industry.
Md Hafizur Rahman, director general of WTO Cell at the Ministry of Commerce and Faruque Hassan, the president of BGMEA, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides in presence of Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi at the ministry’s conference room on Monday.
The Centre for Innovation, Efficiency and OSH will work to boost efficiency of future leaders in the industry.
It also aims to increase efficiency of manufacturing plants in the field of industrial engineering and resource efficiency coupled with occupational health and safety or OSH.
The centre will also arrange vocational and on the job training for graduates from Industrial and Production Planning Engineering and Textile Engineering courses.
It will support the industry for further optimizing cost and lead time to a significant extent.
