Bangladesh Competition Commission has filed cases against 36 companies and traders including Bashundhara, S Alam, Square, Pran, ACI, City, Akiz, Meghna, alleging they created 'instability' in the local commodity market.

The commission's specific complaint against these companies and traders is that they have created instability in the market through "abnormal price hikes and artificial shortages" of rice, flour, atta, eggs, broiler chicken and toiletries.

The commission filed the case last Thursday when they revealed the names of 11 individuals and organisations. The names of the rest were released on Monday. In all, 44 cases have been filed against 36 businessmen and organisations.
